Hello there!<\/strong><\/p>\n I\u2019m finally writing the first post. I\u2019ve been putting it off for a while. Getting started is always a bit scary. But there\u2019s something about the blogs from back when the internet was something new that keeps me interested in having my own. When I was in high school I was part of an online community called Open Diary. I guess that was one of the first sort of blog communities. It was just a platform for people to share their lives anonymously. Nothing super fancy. You could pick the background color and the font of you online diary. that was it \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n So, this is what I want to get back to. The heart of that. I feel like, no matter how advanced technology becomes, and how many possibilities there are to share, we are still just a bunch of humans who have our own stories.<\/p>\n Once I made that choice, then it came to actually setting up the blog. Oh my goodness.<\/strong> So much fiddling, and so time-consuming just to set up the thing!\u00a0 I love to be creative in a visual way\u2026and I\u2019m picky and particular to a fault. Plus, I\u2019m hopelessly analogue in the way I think and approach things. All this means, I need more time to put something together than the average person. It can be hard not to lose my momentum just by the fact that I can take so long. But! I muddled through and here we are! I\u2019m proud of myself.<\/p>\n Now\u2026what\u2019s the point of this blog? To be myself and share my life\u2026.AND share the progress of a project I\u2019m working on. It\u2019s been a long time in coming, but it\u2019s been a little dream of mine to write a baking cookbook (aka a bakebook) of old-school and timeless American recipes, to share with this Dutch world I find myself living in.\u00a0 I\u2019m planning to adapt to ingredients that are readily available, so there will be some experimenting. And of course, I\u2019ll adjust everything to the metric system. That\u2019s the basic idea. I\u2019ll share more background later.<\/p>\n This project is also partially a graduation project. I\u2019m finishing up a bachelor degree in Food Innovation here in NL. Crazy enough, I get to use this idea in my study. However, I\u2019m trying to keep that motivation separate, because I\u2019m noticing that it can throw me off my goal. I\u2019m doing this for me\u2026because I really want to. \nIt\u2019s been an idea\/thought\/ thing in my head for a while to start a blog. I always put it off because I didn\u2019t want to be just another millennial with a blog shouting for attention. There\u2019s already so much out there\u2026so many brilliant, or not so brilliant ideas. Everything is going so fast. What do I have to contribute to all this? Sometimes technology just makes me want to move to a cave somewhere.
\nBut one day I thought\u2026screw it. I\u2019m just going to make something and see what happens. I guess making the decision to start a blog was already a big step for me. I\u2019m a pretty private person. Not because I don\u2019t want to share\u2026but I usually choose very carefully the people I share with. I don\u2019t want to burden people, I\u2019m afraid of being misunderstood, and I don\u2019t like the thought of personal bits of myself being carried around by people I barely know or don\u2019t know at all.<\/p>\n
